SOLIDWORKS Largest User Group (SLUGME 7) Invites Students/Mentors Sept 10

Around the world, independent SOLIDWORKS Users Groups will gather together on Saturday September 10 staring at 10am EST. FIRST students, teachers, mentors and alum, are invited.

Develop your SOLIDWORKS skills and connect with experts and users from around the globe
SLUGME 7 will bring together thousands of users worldwide who want to:

  • Enhance their skills
  • Learn from SOLIDWORKS experts
  • Get the latest information on SOLIDWORKS’ design tools and cloud apps

The event runs for approximately for 6 hours and sometime during the last hour, user group leaders will give away free SOLIDWORKS certification exam vouchers to those who attend - a $700 value. Exams vouchers include CSWA, CSWP, Additive Manufacturing, Sustainability, Sheet Metal, Mold Design, Drawing and Detailing, Simulation and more.

I know it’s an FTC event, but hope to see some of you at SLUGME7 on September 10 at 10AM - streaming live.

Will any of the event be available for viewing afterwards? Would love to attend, but I’ve got tickets to the London airshow that weekend that I’m not passing on for anything (some awesome performers/displays lined up for any aviation fans )

Wait, you’re telling me, if my students just log onto this webcast, not only will they get a SW knowledge dump, they’ll get free CSWA/P vouchers? :exploding_head: :exploding_head:  How, what, really? I have some many questions:

  1. I see this (I think) appears to be a public event? Is this post limited to people already listed on a FIRST roster somehow?
  2. I’m lost in terminology – do people already need to be in a “User Group”? I think I was in college but I don’t remember the logistics of it.
  3. Is there a registration? I went digging and found some mention of Smartsheet Forms, which brings me to an important-looking signin with no other information that doesn’t seem published anywhere else. Do we need this?
  4. If 3 is yes, I have old emails for a “MySolidWorks” account I think we’d all have. It won’t send me a forgotten password email though, and I’m not clear if that constitutes “have a 3DEXPERIENCE Account already” (that splash page also won’t send me a “you requested a password reset, here it is! / who are you?” email) or how important it is for everyone to get that correct there.

Hi Brian - Yes SLUGME 7 will be recorded. I went to EAA Air Venture three years ago a life changing experience! Have fun.

Hi Siri,

Yes students login to webcast. Get SOLIDWORKS knowledge dump. Get CSWA/CSWO vouchers.

  1. Yes Public Event - actually anyone that uses SOLIDWORKS. We will ask a few questions.

  2. You do not need to be a registered member of a SOLIDWORKS Users Group (SWUG) However, for those near a user group and are part of a FIRST team, I would register for community my bring about mentors or a machine shop that is friendly to FIRST. Also, many FIRST teams present at User Group meetings - when they are on the ground.

  3. No registration - just watch the stream and in the last hour - you will be given directions

  4. We will send to any email, these voucher codes will be tied directly to the email to be used with https://3dexperience.virtualtester.com

Additional. Please make certain your students take the sample exams before trying the real ones. These are the same exams we offer commercially. Review outline Nothing is watered down. You have to know how to read a engineering drawing well. For example: https://www.solidworks.com/certifications/mechanical-design-cswa-mechanical-design

How to prepare. I am not certain why your my SOLIDWORKS account is not working. For My SOLIDWORKS use your SOLIDWORKS desktop sponsored serial number that begins with 9020… Follow the instructions very carefully for students - select “I do not have a serial number” This will bypass our commercial protocol and give an student free access to the My SOLIDWORKS content. 1000’s of lessons that helps prepare for our certification exams.

Your 3DEXPERIENCE ID not working - make certain you are going to the Academic tenant. Not the Commercial tenant. solidworks.com/academic-cloud. See if this works.

Regards, Marie

This is incredible, thank you. Still have trouble getting everyone back into their accounts (or determining that they don’t have them), but it’s a totally worth it deal.

We can take this in steps.

  1. You only have to attend the virtual SOLIDWORKS Largest Users Group Meeting Ever SLUGME7. You will be asked for your email. It is important that you and your students remember this email. Your free SOLIDWORKS Certification Exam credits will be tied to this email.

  2. MySolidWorks.com is worth it to figure out why students are not getting in for there are 1000s of hours in lessons with quizzes too. Is it all students? Are you using the new serial number?

  3. Do your students have a 3DEXPERIENCE ID? Are the students able to go to the 3DEXPERIENCE Student Community for help?

There could be a legacy problem from past years that is causing the issue. Please give me some more info to help you debug.

And yes. Free certifications is a big deal so let’s see if we can figure it out.

Ok, I think we’ve got it. I think it’s just a product of people forgetting their registration emails and the “Forgot your password?” options apparently not sending “This email isn’t registered” emails, so it takes some figuring. Thank you!
