Soooo, Any Top Gear fans excited for the new season on Sunday?

Anybody?

Hopefully you’re referring to the British edition, and not one of the exceedingly pale imitations from the United States or Australia. (They even reuse gags from the British edition; how lame is that?)

On the subject of cultural differences in automotive entertainment, if Canada had its own version of Top Gear, instead of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, it would star Jim Kenzie, Graeme Fletcher and Bill Gardiner. And instead of Clarkson extolling the virtues of hydrocarbon combustion, we’d have something like this. It would be about practical cars, maintenance advice and road tests in parking lots.

That’s right, Canada’s answer to Top Gear is Motoring, and it’s been on since the late 1980s. There is no Stig—but Paul Tracy doesn’t seem to be doing too much these days, so I’m sure he’d be able to fill in.

Great show, or THE greatest show?

Greatest show. I am $@#$@#$@#$@# excited.

The British version rocks.

But I think petrol cars are better, if only because they sound so much cooler.
