SOS for PDH

Calling all teams that have excess PDHs,

I’m from a small team that was not able to buy a PDH at the beginning of this year and they have now been discontinued for the remainder of the season. I’m not going to beat around the bush, we will pay any asking price for anyone willing to sell and mail us a PDH before our April competition date.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Why not use the old power distribution board ?

 Maybe they want more than 8 40A branch circuits, or more than 16 total branch circuits, or both.

The PDP is not limited to 8 if you use the REV 40A breakers. Per Q&A Q25:

Yes, R619 permits using the REV 40A ATO breaker in the CTR Electronics PDP. CTR Electronics is in the process of updating their documentation.

I’m not seeing how R619 allows more than 8 40A breakers on the PDP when the PDP only has 8 slots rated for 40A?

I had this misconception also. Both R619 and the Q&A have ruled it legal

R619 was a little ambiguous, which is why I asked the question

Q25 doesn’t say you can use more than 8 though. The answer literally just says that you can use REV ATO breakers in the PDP. Same with R619

So the answer to the question says you can use the REV ATO 40A breakers in the PDP, which means they can be used in the smaller slots. Where are you seeing a limit to 8 40A breakers in the PDP?

The PDP only has 8 circuits rated for 40A…

Which was the exact point of the question asked. FIRST says it’s legal and that CTRE is updating their documentation to indicate it as such (although, here we are 2 months later and the documentation hasn’t been updated…)

Point me to the rule that says those PDP terminals cannot be used with 40A breakers. Please, it would make my job as an inspector easy if I can point to such a rule!

Note that the REV 40A breakers are the smaller size and only fit in the 8 smaller ports of the PDP.

edit to remove my lack of reading ability.

I understand that q25 was asked and the GDC has said that CTRE will be updating their documentation. But they haven’t and I don’t know why they ever would as you could use the PDP for non FRC related robots and that’s just asking for issues.

If I was on a team this year using the PDP i would not allow my team to run all 16 slots with 40A breakers. Clearly other teams are going to because its being ruled legal and I wish them luck and hope they have current limits on those motors.

620 applies to fuses, not breakers.

You can’t just ignore evidence? R620 plays no part in this.

Edit: sniped
