Source for nylon pulleys.

Hi there,
I was wondering if anybody knew a good supplier for nylon pulleys and pollycord (I think thats what it’s called). This was used by the robowranglers on their roller claw.

Thanks in advance.

Try some of the suppliers from this link:

I don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, but I know that the nylon (very small) pulleys my team used for our elevator last year were bought at McMasterCarr.

I believe you’re thinking of urethane belt (round and flat). You can find it at McMaster.

Pulleys can be made of anything. PVC tubing, nylon. Mcmaster has those too if you search for “round belt pulleys”

We’ve always gotten these supplies from McMaster.

If you have the resources, I would recommend trying to machine your own pulleys. You can do some pretty cool things with a lathe and some creativity, like building pulleys right into a one piece shaft/pulley combination, not to mention increased flexibility on sizes, bores, etc. If you don’t have a lathe available, as others have said, McMaster is a great source.

Thanks Ninja Bait, that list is great.
As for the belting, urethane was the word that I was looking for earlier.
A search on McMaster-Carr revealed the type of belt that I was looking for.

Thanks everyone.

We have lathed our own from nylon rod stock, and have used screen door rollers we found at Home Depot. Those have a sealed bearing with a nylon pulley shaped channel formed around the outer race - you can get a couple of different sizes. Each one worked great. The pulleys we lathed were drilled to loose fit a bolt, and then sprayed liberally with silicon lubricant.

Search Home Depot site for “screen door rollers”
