South Africans are here

For those of you who didn’t know, team 1188 Oaktown Crewz has team members in both the United States and South Africa.

This past week the rest of our team flew over and we’ve been getting to know eachother. There’s Petri, Liezl, Landi, Pieter and Neil and of course their coach “Uncle Pieter”.

Some members of our team arrived at the airport last Thursday to pick up the South Africans who then came back to Dondero for a social, we toasted, ate, drank and had recess in the back parking lot.

This past week we’ve been hanging out, going shopping, and learning about eachothers lives. I’ve seen pictures of Petri’s family, learned about Landi’s home life, drawn with sidewalk chalk with Neil, gossiped with Liezl and hung out with pieter.

Our whole team will be in Atlanta for those of you who want to stop by and get to know them like I have. Our South African side is an amazing group of people and I’ll be sad when they return to their side of the ocean.

Thanks really great to hear about! It is nice to learn about other people in this world and how they live.

Great job to your team for welcoming them in to your community.
I wish I could be in Alanta to meet them all.

Good luck at the competition!

You might consider notifying their families and school that upon return - they will be making sounds that sound rather like OINK OINK BOOM loudly, that all is well, nothing to worry about really - after all the rest of us are quite sane.

Just a thought.
Kudos to all of you!
Jane

 I’d love to meet them, that sounds awesome…

SOUNDS GREAT!!!

Good to know there are other teams with the members outside of United States. I would love to meet them.

Team 612, also has members overseas. Yes we have members in Pakistan who maintain and run our Website. Bilal Javed and Murad Khan are two students of O’Level Cambridge Courses currently resided in Faisalabad Pakistan. This is their first year on the team, and hopefully next year, we’ll have more members on board.
Also we are trying our best to get more resources together on both sides so we can open doors of FIRST for the Largest Continent…ASIA!!

yay, and great idea.

we’re trying to get a robotics competition in South Africa now

and thanks!

our south african team mates do our website too and have won us two website awards so we greatly appreciate their hardwork and in atlanta they’ll be doing the same jobs as us since we’re such a small team.

I’d love to meet some of your team members to talk about your experiences.

If you need some help with Asia just ask we’d love to help open more doors
