Spark Max not showing up under CAN Devices list in Phoenix Tuner

We are trying to set up a CAN Bus using Spark Max controllers. However, using the Phoenix Tuner, the Spark Max devices do not show up under the CAN Devices list. The PDP is the only device that shows up in the list.

We have:

  • Updated firmware on Roborio and PDP
  • Updated firmware and configured each Spark Max controller using the Spark Max Client (IDs, Brushless mode)
  • Only connected one Spark Max in the CAN Bus configuration to test
  • Double checked the wiring (see pictures)

The controllers are blinking purple. We did notice that the kInputMode field in the Spark Max Client was set to 2 instead of 1. We were not able to change this field. Are we missing any other setting or configuration to get the devices to display in the list?

You look at the Spark Max’s on CAN using the SPARK MAX Client Application
Plug into any of the Spark Max’s with the USB c cable and you’ll be able to see all of them.

Phoenix Tuner looks at CTRE devices (PDP, PCM, Talon/Victor)

So I will need to plug in the USB-C to one of the controllers to have them show up in Phoenix Tuner?

So you will need to plug in the USB-C to one of the controllers to have them show up in the Spark Max Client application.

Phoenix Tuner doesn’t show other manufacturers devices.
