Our SparkMax Motor Controller fails to connect PC. We are trying to put our SparkMax Motor Controller in recovery mode but we can not connect it to our PC either with a USB type-C cable nor CAN connections. It has also started to heat considerably fast. We disassembled it once and reassembled the same way. The LED on the SparkMax Motor Controller is dark all the time. (No CAN connection, No USB type-C connection) What should we do?

Please reach out to us at [email protected]. It sounds like something has been damaged internally if it is generating heat on its own.
Please do not take apart the SPARK MAX unless our support team instructs you to. It is possible to damage the circuitry inside, as static shocks can completely bypass the protection circuitry on a bare circuit board. This kind of damage can mask what, if any, original issue was occurring.
Our SparkMax motor controller failed during a firmware downgrade that we were doing using the REV Hardware Client. The LED for the SparkMax Motor Controller no longer works and when we try to connect to it using a USB type-C cable, our OS fails to recognize it, we tried it with 3 different laptops. We opened it inside, and we were not able to see any recognizable damage.
This was due to the hardware or the software and we were exactly following the procedure provided to us in the REV Robotics Docs, if we aren’t able to fix the motor, would you go about telling us how we could get a replacement.

The dark LED is consistent with a corrupted firmware update. So I would first try the Recovery Mode procedure that @Ryan_Blue referenced. Here is a working link:
I know it is tempting, but please try not to disassemble the SPARK MAX unless we’ve asked you to through our support channels. It is possible to damage the circuitry inside, as static shocks can completely bypass the protection circuitry on a bare circuit board.
We highly recommend updating the SPARK MAX to the latest firmware, we only tend to recommend a downgrade when trying to troubleshoot or compare between older and newer firmware versions.
If Recovery Mode doesn’t work, please reach out to [email protected].
