Awards: Winner
This past weekend, Spectrum competed at The Remix Offseason Event. We would first like to thank our alliance partners: 8177 Vector, 8576 Golden Warriors Robotics, 9998, 624 Cryptonite, 3735 VorTX, and 8879 REDBird Robotics.
Our development subteam, Photon 8515, also competed with the alpha version of 3847’s robot. Photon went 11-2 overall at the event, finished ranked 18th, and was the first pick of the 3rd alliance captain, 624, alongside 3735 and 8879. This alliance went undefeated in playoffs, winning Remix for Spectrum with 624 for the second year in a row.
3847 went 8-5 overall at the event, finished ranked 8th, and invited 8177, 8576, and 9998 to join their alliance. After upsetting the first alliance in the elimination bracket, we set the event un-penalized high score (Video) getting all 27 gamepieces into the comunity before finally falling to the lower bracket against the 5th alliance. We proceeded to rise back up the lower bracket before getting eliminated by the 5th alliance again in match 13.
Robot POV of Event Highscore:
On the second day of the competition, Spectrum’s interquartile mean for teleop scored game-pieces 8.66, hitting nine teleop game-pieces a total of 6 times. This used the double substation for cones and cubes during playoffs, which were slower than our single substation cycles. We are thrilled with the result and are excited to see how we can improve for Chezy Champs this weekend.
Failures and Fixes:
Failure: Intermittent Drivetrain Can failure
Fix: found loose lever nut, and reconnected it before our next match. We also thought the cannivore could have been the issue so we replaced it because we had time. When we got back to the lab we tested the cannivore and found no issues.
Failure: Cone getting stuck between bellypan cover and frame
Fix: could not remove it during the match. We will test potential solutions this week.
Failure: Bent accessory rail after hard collision
Fix: Used a clamp to bend the rail back as best as we could, then riveted a gusset on to help straighten the bend out a little bit more and provide extra support. This also caused us to have to re-drill our bumper mounting hole in that location.
Failure: Broken 3D printed GoPro mount
Fix: Print new GoPro Mount
Failure: Broke 3D printed cone bar standoff after auton went awry
Fix: Switched these standoffs to aluminum ½ rounded hex
Planned Improvements:
-
Improve Autons for Chezy
-
Driver practice on AM for these next 3 days to improve on our weaknesses. No major mechanical changes before Chezy.
Strategy and Scouting Recap:
Our new strategy system worked incredibly, allowing us to pick 8177 and 8576. There will be a more indepth post about the changes for this event and Chezy in the near future.
