Spray-on Rubber

Does spray on rubber or plastic count as a lubrication? We want to use the rubber or plastic as a barrier to prevent us from scratching the totes or trash can during the competition.

Plastidip is an option

Rubber? Probably not, considering it’s quite likely the rubber will actually increase the “coefficient of grippy,” and that’s the precise opposite of what lubricants are supposed to do.

If I remember correctly, the main goal of that rule is likely to prevent grease and other oily or fluid lubricants from getting all over the field, so you’re probably in the clear as far as both RAW and RAI. Still would Q&A if you aren’t sure.

Spray on rubber certainly is not a lubricant once they are cured. I do not see anything in the rules that would make the use of them illegal.

We sprayed a rubber coating on our kicker plate last year without issue.

your really all good unless it get super flakey on the field like plastidip can if done poorly
