The teams of Springfield Robotics are organizing an off-season event fundraiser for all ages as a buildup to this summer’s soccer World Cup in Brazil. The competition allows participants to design, test, and video record their autonomous soccer goal scoring robots at home, then submit their best match finishing time online. The videos of the top match times will be requested for “goal-line technology” verification.
Awards include a shiny, giant Lincoln penny to all participants! A custom trophy is awarded to the overall male & female match times, along with awards for males & females in age groups U10, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18, and over 18 (yes, adult mentors finally have their chance to compete!)
Early registration ends May 12, 2014, and the registration deadline is June 12, the start of the World Cup. Online match timing submission closes on June 19, 2014.
