Hey guys does anyone know how many balls we need to be able to achieve stage 3, Some people are saying it’s 49 but my interpretation of 4.4.2 (POWER CELLS scored after a stage is at CAPACITY generate MATCH points but do not contribute to the next stage’s CAPACITY. POWER CELLS scored after Stage 3 is ACTIVATED continue to generate MATCH points), is that any excess than the stage don’t count to the next stage’s capacity, example if in auto a team scores 10 balls then 9 balls count and the last one is not counted towards capacity for the next stage, so stage 2 starts with capacity at 9 not 0, so this would make it so that 20 balls is the minimum for stage 3 rather than the 49 balls for stage 3

49 is the total count for Stage 3.

9 for Stage 1.
20 for Stage 2.
20 for Stage 3.
9+20+20=49.

Yea, most alliance will probably require more scoring than just the 49

I am asking in terms of does 4.4.2 mean that it’s 49 balls or 20, because it says any excess won’t count to next stage but not if the actual amount counts or not.

Count for Stage 3 starts from 0, the moment Stage 2 is reached.

That answers my question, but where does it specify that

You need 9 for Stage 1. Any extra don’t count.*
You THEN need 20 for Stage 2. Any extra don’t count.*
You THEN need 20 for Stage 3. Any extra don’t count.*

9+20+20=49 minimum balls to finish Stage 3.

*Points count, but not Capacity.

Take a look at Table 4-1 under 4.4.2. Also, 4.4.2 specifies that:

POWER CELLS scored after a stage is at CAPACITY generate MATCH points but do not contribute to the next stage’s CAPACITY. POWER CELLS scored after Stage 3 is ACTIVATED continue to generate MATCH points.

In the game walk through it states clearly that they compound so its 49

It may do so, but that’s totally meaningless. Only what is in the rules matters. The game video is often wrong or the robots in it break the rules. That’s because it has to be produced well before kickoff.
