well as most of you know, episode II comes out on the 16th and since there so much hype about the recent release of spiderman i wanted to see whos excited for this release…im not a star wars nerd but i love it and i cant wait…its going to blow spiderman out of the water…thank god for the two week cover…spiderman cannot handle the pressure of spiderman is going to crumble…
I’ll be going to see it…I’m not “hyped” tho…
I’m a big fan of Star Wars and have been ever since I played with my brothers old Star Wars toys (originals) and watched the movies. I was at the first night showing of all the Special Editions and the midnight showing of Episode I. I plan on purchasing advanced tickets here in the next few days for the midnight showing of Episode II. Supposedly it’s going to be the best Star Wars ever and I suggest everyone, even if not a fan, see it.
“Do or do not, there is no try.” -YODA
my sister has already purchased te midnight screening tickets. its my bday present.
i can’t wait
Having the perks of working at a movie theatre, I’ll be able to stay on the thursday before at about 10:30 to watch the screening of it! I’m so excited as well. Every movie must be watched before paying customers seeing it. They let employees come and watch it! Woohoo!
I, for one, am not going to see SWII opening weekend. I consider myself a devout Star Wars nerd, which is why i was so offended at the low quality of SWI. I’ll wait…see what other people say and then i’ll think about spending my money on it. It’s just…we had such high expectations for episode 1. There was so much that needed to be covered to lay the groundwork for episode 2…i was really disappointed. Episode 2 will have to be twice as good as the originals to make up for a pathetic first one. IMO, it would have been better if he never had tried to make a first episode.
/me ducks and runs
oh and btw…i’m willing to bet money that swII can’t beat Spiderman. Unless it’s really, really good on its own merit, the only people who go to see it will be people who are already fans of the other four. The difference with Spiderman is that it was exciting for comic book fans and normal ppl alike, which is why it already did so well and will continue to do so well.
I agree with AmyBeth330. Episode I just did’nt make the grade, and if George Lucas is gonna put out another kiddie-krud movie, i’d rather spend my money elsewhere.
As for spiderman, it blew away record ticket sales, making 114 million the first 3 days. I wish i could make 1/2 that in a year:D
I think spiderman may just overshadow Star Wars. And AmyBeth330 is right again in saying that Spiderman has a universal appeal, while starwars only appeals to its own fan base, and of course the little kids that dress up like darth vadar to see it. I’d be shocked if it does nearly as well as spiderman.
Someone beat me to saying it all
/me dives into reinforced bunker
I think one of the probs w/ Ep 1 was that it was SOOOO over-advertised, you couldn’t help but be disappointed (same thing happened w/ Spiderman)…
Notice now that Ep2 has barely been advertised at all? Maybe Lucan relised the had too much hype for ep 1…So they are lying low now?
I LOVE STAR WARS! I DON"T CARE THE EPISODE I WASN"T AS GOOD AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!!
Sure Jar Jar and the whole “new feel” to the vehicles and all the “not good enough”, I still liked it for Star Wars, and recently playing “Jedi Knight II” and just seeing A New Hope on TV last night, I CAN"T WAIT I CAN"T WAIT I CAN"T WAIT!!
I must have said “May 16th” about 3 Kabajillion times today because I CAN"T WAIT FOR EPISODE II!!!
<<<----Loser:D
I’m anxiously awaiting SW II. I won’t see it on opening night, and probably not opening weekend either. I hate watching movies with big crowds because they are too loud and I prefer to hear the movie, not the people around me. So I’ll wait until mid-week when the crowds are smaller. Plus I don’t want to run into any weirdos dressed as their favorite Star Wars character I also heard that a local theater has a digital projector so I’ll definately see it on that screen
I was disappointed by SW I, it was almost impossible not to be after all the hype.
I haven’t heard any reviews yet, but the trailers look good: decent story line & good action. John Williams has another outstanding soundtrack for this movie (the love song is by far the best track on the CD and one of his best songs ever) but I was disappointed that he didn’t introduce many new musical themes. So it looks like Lucas has a good movie on his hands.
Then again, that’s what I thought in the weeks leading up to SW I…

You just want to steal the show, Mike We know you’ve been working on your Jar Jar costume for months now.
I’ll probably wind up seeing it on opening weekend just 'cause there’s nothing else to do. Spiderman was reasonably entertaining, and so I’m jazzed for the upcoming movie season.
You won’t, however, find me waiting in line for three days to get tickets. Uh-uh. Not again.
I only have 4 things to say about Episode II:
- It doesn’t revolve around a kid with fake acting
- More plot than Episode I (to be expected)
- Lightsaber action!!!
- There is a FIGHT SCENE WITH YODA.

Well, again since I work at a movie theatre, my manager got to see an EARLY screening of it. He’s not too credible cause I’ve liked movies he hasn’t but he said it wasn’t all that great. He did say there was one fight scene where he wanted to get up screaming cause it was so awesome though. I think that should be interesting especially if it is with Yoda!

This is why I am going to see the movie…
How would that worK?
He’s so short, it would have to be a light-dagger rather than a light-saber.
 sorry, i had to say it. i promise it would happen again.
Did anyone notice in 4, 5, 6 whenever Yoda was heard, it was the same person who did the voice of Grover (from Sesame Street)…I didn’t notice it being him again in Ep 1 tho…
Also, the announcer at the Pod Race in ep1 is Greg Proops - The guy w/ the glasses who is on the American ‘Whose Line Is it Anyway’ from time to time (no i don’t mean Drew)…Interesting, eh?
i noticed the grover but not the whos line…thats interesting though
I knew all those. Frank Oz, Jim Hensons’ right hand man, did many of the Sesame Street and Muppets muppets. And yea he also did Yoda. Also I picked up the Greg Proops thing when I first saw SW EP I. And I also noticed ET in the big scene with all the political groups from around the galaxy. There are a lot of “easter eggs” in Episode I. ILM (Lucas’ CG Co.) always does funny stuff like that for the hard core fans. And in everyone of Lucas’ films you’ll notice the number 1138 somewhere. This alludes (AP English word) to his first film THX 1138. Yea so…
As far as Episode I goes, if you imagine that Jar Jar isn’t there, it’s a pretty good film except for the whole bad acting from that kid and I didn’t really like the whole ending where he basically takes out an entire army accidently. But you gotta admit that the dual light sabering n stuff and the awesome Pod Race and introduction of R2-D2 scene is pretty good. It was very childish and over promoted because Lucas was trying to get the “new generation” (all the original Star Wars kids’ kids) hyped up for the movie. Now that he has all these new little kids, my 3yr old nephew being one of them, hooked he’s gonna make millions. Look at Ice Age, Spy Kids and Shrek… all little kids movies that broke tons of records and made tons.
Now this whole fight scene with Yoda… that must’ve been hard. Yoda is CG in this movie unlike the other 4 where he was a puppet. Now imagine being an actor trying to fight this short little green invisible character in a light saber battle… tough? YOU BET! And you guys are right when you say that this one will be better because of the older targeted audience and it’s the whole “Clone Wars” thing that you heard so much about in the original 3. And somebody told me that one of the critics from TIME Magazine said this was the best Star Wars ever… let’s just hope so. I’m tired of Titanic being the #1 movie of all time just because 50 billion teenage girls had to see Leonardo DiCrapio over and over. Don’t get me wrong the movie wasn’t bad, but it was by far not the best movie ever!
Yea… that’s my $.02
I heard they made the CG Yoda look rubbery and move very similar to the puppet… so the old-school Star Wars fans wouldn’t be totally disgusted by the total change from puppet -> CG
That’d be really nice… you know you really can’t tell in the trailer how he looks but if he’s all dumb looking then it will throw it off. And I could see the rubber look cuz if you watch Episode I, Boss Nass (Jar Jar’s leader dude) is all like rubberized. He is pretty realistic looking, as with most of the Gungans. ILM is by far the best CGFX House there is!!
