Starting position?

Has any one found the exact location of where the robots start at?

From what I have read is they start on the line dividing your opponents scoring zone and the 9’ 7" between the mid section divider. But as far as between the outer wall and the ramp I have read nothing.

Also where does your robot start? Meaning the way it looks to me is that like in final matches in the past you can start not in front of your control station, but in front of your opponents. (Even though this isn’t truly correct because it’s in the middle of the field)

hmm, i heard it was anywhere within that grey area of yours. kinda like earlier years. ill check the rules

Yep I argee. Anywhere in the Gray area of yours. I think the aliance can decide if they are on the left or right.
Quote from Page 4 of The Game Manual:
Robots will initially be placed within the starting areas in the alleys at the sides of the platform/ramp
structure. Each alliance’s robots will start on the far side of the midfield barrier.

Also in the field picture they point to the robot as A or B and then the other one is A or B. More of me thinking you can pick. But it doesn’t say that in rules that I see

According to one of our members that worked kickoff, it’s anywhere in those grey squares beside the ramp. Double check the rules though.

In the past 3 years (all I can speak for) the robots have started directly in front of the player stations and during elim’s they had the choice of which side (A or B station) align their robot.

This year, the robot starts on the far side of the field. A little past the midway point and it’s first forward movement would put it into the opponents scoring zone. The robot is to be over the white line that is centrally 3 feet from either side of the field barriers (Rail / Ramp). From the looks of it, the alliances may choose each match where to place their robot. I have yet to read a rule stating they cannot but:

GM9 During the setup for each match, robots must be placed totally within their starting areas.

No real definition of the designated areas other than Far Side of the Midfield Barrier.
