Statement from Andy Baker regarding recent YPP case

Dear ChiefDelphi and the FIRST community,

Here are my thoughts and requests regarding the recent case regarding former AndyMark employee, Nick Lawrence:

Thank you for the attention and care regarding the discussion to improve FIRST YPP to protect the students. I believe that discussion regarding this unfortunate case will help improve our community.

My top priority, since this was quickly and properly reported in early January, was the care and protection of the victims and all impacted. It’s been difficult for many of us, especially the victims. We continue to work through this issue and appreciate the patience and empathy the FIRST community has for our staff and everyone impacted. Because this is an on-going investigation, we are not going to provide details regarding the specifics of the case, or address rumors, as that’s not productive to achieve a resolution.

The actions we’ve taken at AndyMark have been to work closely with authorities and FIRST regarding this case. Please contact the Howard County Sheriff’s office at 765-457-1105 if you have info about this case. I ask for patience as due process takes place.

Thank you again for your care, concern, and support.

Sincerely,
Andy Baker
President
AndyMark, Inc.

I ask that everyone contact FIRST YPP and push for required background checks, yearly YPP training and 2 deep leadership required for ALL mentors. Take student and parent concerns seriously. We need action.
