In response to recent concerns raised about IFI and their business and leadership practices, Team 254 has determined that a relationship with IFI no longer aligns with our core tenets and values, and as such, will no longer participate in Team IFI or accept sponsorship from them for the 2023 season and onward.
Over the coming seasons Team 254 will pursue and evaluate alternative products to allow us to fully divest and pivot away from the VEX product ecosystem.
Similarly to my ask on the 1678 announcement - I think there would be a lot of value in anything your organization feels comfortable sharing about how this discussion came about, what factors played into it, and how various stakeholders were approached.
Given the circumstances, it would be reasonable to assume there is (was) some sort of agreement in place between IFI and each of the sponsors. As there may well be consequences for breaking that agreement, especially as the walls appear to be closing in on IFI, in at least this forum, I would totally understand the complete lack of transparency beyond carefully crafted statements.
To put this question to rest - no such agreement ever existed. As with any of our other sponsors, IFI has never had influence or oversight over what we could or should say/do, or the products used on our robots.
