MakeShift (4039) and Celt-X (5406) are excited to announce that team registration for the seventh annual STEMley Cup Championship and Overtime Sunday will open at 6 pm EST on June 19. We will be playing Charged Up one last time with the supercharged rule set (update 21) plus a special STEMley twist (details to follow).
3 hours after registration opened, the STEMley Cup Saturday event is now closed at 24 registered teams, plus 3 spots withheld for future rookies. 12 teams registered within 60 seconds! That’s awesome!
There’s still a chance that we’ll have openings on Saturday if teams cancel. We also encourage you to sign up for Overtime Sunday if you haven’t already!
I know registration fees aren’t due until end of September, but do those planning the event have a rough idea of when we may see a preliminary list of teams competing?
48 is super excited to be registered for STEMley Cup! This is an event we’ve talked about going to since 2019, and we’re hoping to get everything in place to make our first trip to compete in Canada since 2007. See y’all there!
It’s getting close to the STEMley Cup Championship weekend! We’re looking forward to seeing 50 teams join us on Saturday Nov 4 and Sunday Nov 5.
For those of you joining us, there are a couple of time-sensitive items to communicate:
1) Lunch Pre-Orders
lunch pre-ordering is now available using this link: http://order.stemleycup.ca/. Given the tight schedule at one-day events we encourage teams to use the pre-order option. If so, please submit your lunch pre-orders before Monday, October 30th.
2) Hockey Cards and Commemorative T-Shirts
Our students are bringing back back the STEMley Cup Robot Trading Cards, for sale at STEMley and Overtime.
Sample artwork is shown below. There will be one card for every 2023 participating team. A limited supply of previous-year cards will also be available.
A limited quantity of commemorative T-Shirts will also be available for purchase at the STEMley Cup Championship / Overtime Sunday Concession store. The shirts are designed by Victoria A (@FRCdoodles). Artwork is shown below. Dark grey and beige versions will be available:
Don’t forget to review the rule changes including the exciting addition of STEMley Cup Charge Extender Cones and Cubes.
4) Time Change
This is a reminder that daylight savings time occurs at 2 am on November 5 meaning you will get an extra hour of sleep the night before Overtime.
5) Team Information Living Document
Our event guide will be updated continuously as we get closer to the event. It includes detailed information about the event including an up-to-date team list. Check it out: https://stemleycup.ca/logistics/
For those of you who can’t join us in person, we expect to have a live stream arranged through FIRST Canada. Stay tuned for details.
We’re still on track to welcome teams to our biggest ever STEMley Cup Championship / Overtime Sunday this weekend. This is a quick note that we have extended online ordering for commemorative t-shirts and trading cards until Friday. If you are interested, you can buy them at:
3161 had a great time at STEMley this year! Thanks to the organizers, volunteers, and teams for putting on such a great event year after year!
Special thanks to our alliance partners 4476 & 4946 for picking us and giving their all in elims, it was awesome playing with you guys and an incredible end to our Charged Up season!
3739 had a blast showing some of our rookies the ropes. STEMley is year after year, a phenomenal event. We can’t wait to come back next year!
Special shoutout to our alliance captain, 48 Team E.L.I.T E., and our alliance partner 1114 Simbotics! Both amazing teams to work with, and super friendly!
Team 48 had a great time competing at the STEMley Cup Championship this weekend. This was our first time coming out to the event, and it was a really fun way to give our 2023 robot and season a send off.
Thank you to our partners, 1114 Simbotics, and 3739 Oakbotics! It was a great playoffs run, and we really enjoyed getting to play with you both. Also, huge shoutout to all of the volunteers that helped us load our pit in when the bus with all of our students got delayed at the boarder. We would not have been able to hit the ground running without your help!
Side note, is there any word on whether match footage will be posted? It doesn’t appear that the Twitch VOD is available, and I’d love to go back and review the matches.
