5.1 STOP BUILD DAY
All teams must cease work on their robot on or before Stop Build Day. Any team that fails to comply may jeopardize their participation in the rest of the FRC season.
Note that “Stop Build Day” is a specific date, so you may work on your robot until midnight on that date in whatever time zone you are working.
STOP BUILD DAY is TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2013
The emphasis is mine. You need to have it locked up by 11:59:59 PM on Tuesday.

Technically, this means that teams have to stop working at the very beginning of Stop Build Day. Midnight, i.e. 12:00:00 AM, is the very first second of a new day, not the last one. However, others have said and I agree that the common interpretation is that you can work all throughout the day. Some might take this as “rules lawyering”, but I hope that FIRST will fix/clarify this at some point, or else teams that read into the rules a little too much might lose a day…
When the Fed-Ex truck showed up early Tuesday morning to pick up your crated robot, it kind of made sense to stop working and get it in the crate Monday night. If your robot wasn’t crated and ready when they got there, they left without it and you didn’t compete.
We, team 2838, were wondering this question too. We e-mailed our regional manager (we are in Missouri), and he said that we have until 11:59.59 on Tuesday to finish building. I hope this helps people :yikes:
