Suggestions for roller coatings

We’re looking at trying out some polycarbonate tubing rollers as part of our intake and are thinking ahead about options for added Gription™.

What are some things that might help us get a handle on things?

Last year we used COTS “grip tape” from Menards and replaced it every couple of matches and it worked great

I’m pretty sure week 6 used truck bed liner on their rollers to get a better grip.

I’m ashamed to admit I live out in truck country and don’t know if the texture of bedliner is gritty or rubbery.

Floating surgical tubing over the tube has never been a bad decision from where I’m standing. Not too hard if you have access to an air compresser.

These power cells are so grippy you may not want any.

We bought some of this: https://www.mcmaster.com/cushioned-round-grip
To slide over thunderhex. Very dense and grippy on the ball. Not very thick, so not sure about longevity if you hang it outside the frame perimeter

Dumb question: What about those handle grips in the Black Tote from KOP?

We bought some of this to try from McMaster: https://www.mcmaster.com/5872k35 it was super grippy to the point it started picking up random dust and grit from the shop pretty fast. My one complaint was that I couldnt quite get all the heat shrink wrinkles to go away (if anyone has advice for that I would love to hear it).

See if you can find someone in your area who builds model aircraft, and ask them to help–and bring their iron. There are irons for heat-shrinking model aircraft covering to the aircraft. Smooth down, hit with a heat gun. Use the iron to chase bubbles/wrinkles to an un-smoothed area. Repeat. If you get a particularly pesky bubble, pop it with the tip of an Exacto and iron again.

I thought about letting one ball get grungy just to see how it might perform in game.

I’ll definitely try that.

That got me thinking so I looked around and found this stuff on Amazon:
