Just thought I want to point out a few things I learn from back at the days when Chief Delphi was thread style instead of linear…

Watch out where in the thread you press reply. It is much easier if topics withing a thread are organized such that each topic is discussed within the sub-thread. So, try not to post about multiple topics within one reply. For example, we had a discussion about this earlier about the championship event qualification thread. After that discussion different threads were created, such as “the pros of the new system” and “the cons of the new system”. So, try not to reply about both pros and cons within one of those threads, and instead spread them out even if you don’t see anything existing.

Name your messages more often. With the advantage of hybrid view, we can now see all the message topics with the author next to them. Unfortunately a lot of the messages are titled “Re: ***”. It will be much more useful if you think about the title before you press the post button, then people can easily look at the titles and go to the appropiate sub-thread to post their thoughts.

Finally, do take advantage of the thread style, and the hybrid view. You can easily organize your discussion with thread style by creating different sub-threads within the topics you started, so people can better focus their thoughts in one thing at a time when they join in the discussion. Make a habit of doing it, and sooner or later everyone will be used to the system and we will all have a much more enjoyable time spending around the forum.
Have fun!
