well, since it’s almost time to start going full steam again, i’ve been thinking a lot about FIRST, as most of us here are it seems. these boards are getting pretty active after a summer off.

the one big improvement i would like to see administratively is more ‘customer’ support. by this, i really mean, more hours when we can call up with questions. not last year really, but in many previous years, we have lost significant time because it was 6p.m. EST and we were at an impasse and we needed an answer from FIRST. it seems to me that most teams are working after hours, say 4p.m. and later, and if a question comes up, it’s very inconvenient to have to wait till the next day. i feel really bad for teams on the west coast that are barely up and half of their time to inquire is gone.

maybe FIRST could have rotating evening and weekend shifts during the 6 weeks of active building. it’s a small thing to ask, but i know a lot of teams could really use some answers at those times.

You have got to remember that there are only a handful of FIRST folks back there in Manchester and they have to sleep some time.

BUT…

These forums never sleep. If you need a question answered or need some help, ask it here on the forums. You will be surprised I think how fast help arrives.

AND, you can bet they’re not sleeping much between now and kickoff.

Understood, but there is no reason they couldn’t work in ‘shifts’. Come in late, go home late. Even just 1 or 2 people there until 8 or 9 and maybe Saturday morning would be a nice help for many teams.

Not everyone knows about this forum or the others like it, I didn’t until this year.
