Super Cells, scoring?

Now I ask this question about the Super cells. Each alliance can have up to four. Lets say your payload specialtist throws a super cell when he can, and he misses, can the other alliance pick up the cell and then throw it into your trailer, does it still count? My assumption is yes. more of a dramatic thinking lets say you miss all four so the other alliance scores all eight on you scoring 120 points. Just curious

I havent read anything that says you can’t score the opposing alliance’s supercells, I think they want all the teams to consider this, so that the super cells carry a possible 30 point difference in the game (+15 if you score on the other team, -15 if you miss and they score on you.) this may prompt teams that forgot about the thrower and didn’t have anyone practice to just throw the super cells at the most open part of the track, or to communicate with their team about where the robots should deliver the balls to.

You can score the opposing alliance’s supercells (I think this was mentioned at kickoff), although with 20 seconds remaining, even if it misses, there’s going to be little room for error for the other team, since they now have less than 20 seconds to move to the ball, acquire it and also score it, since the payload specialist has to react to the 20 second warning, possibly grab the cell, and throw it, and then the cell has to land. If you’re really worried about it, just toss it with like 5 seconds to go so they have essentially no opportunity to score with it.

Balls are not owned by a team, or alliance. Once a ball is entered into the crater, it doesnt matter where it came from.

I would expect that if you miss, that robots nearby will try to pick them up and score on you before the buzzer. Pretty much expect that to happen. It could change the game a lot in the last 20 seconds.

i think the 5 second idea is pretty good, could use the first 15 (well 10 since ppl hafta throw em) seconds to pick up opponent balls then use it against em first…unless all 6 teams just stand thre like demented monkeys =] and wait till 5 seconds

Yes, theoretically this is possible. Plausible? Well, you’d need a wicked sweet alliance and some serious luck to pull it off. Totally legal though.

I’m sure you can. But it’d probably be better not to try, because then you’re almost certain to get <G14>'d.

Consider the possibility that, for the purpose of bumping up your match ranking, there could be situations where you would want to put a super cell or 2 in your own trailer.
If your alliance is coasting to a blowout against the other alliance, you really want to win the match without crushing the opponents.
I think the most successful teams will have a match strategist, someone who is deciding the best way to finish out the last 20 seconds.

It was mentioned at Kickoff that there was a theoretical maximum of 360 points. That breaks down as 120 moon rocks @ 2 points each, plus 8 Super Cells @ 15 points each. And yes, you would be severely over the limits of <G14> if you did this. :ahh:
