I have been searching a lot about superstructures and I can’t seem to find any place that has something about them. So my question is what are they and how are they used? Any example pictures from multiple years would be greatly beneficial! Thanks
Superstructure: On a ship, anything above the main deck (or hull). Typically includes the bridge, masts, and similar items.
On a FRC robot, replace “hull” and “main deck” with “drivebase”. So, you’ve had superstructure on your robots before. Anything above the drivebase is your superstructure.
A few 1726 robots, over the years.
2007: Aluminum mast clamped to aluminum bracket, which is bolted to fiberglass frame. Also sheet aluminum and wood ramp assembly bolted to brackets bolted to frame.
2008: Aluminum angle structure, quick release pins attach the bottom of the structure to the corners of the robot fiberglass chassis.
2011: Aluminum square tube structure with sheet aluminum mounting brackets, bolted to kit chassis
2012: Aluminum tube and angle structure bolted to steel chassis.
2013: Aluminum angle structure bolted to VexPro chassis.
Well that makes much more sense… Thanks for that clarification!
