Hi all, I wanted to create a dedicated thread for teams affected by the Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, Kenneth, and other wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
If your team has been impacted in any way, regardless of severity, please share if there is any way the rest of the community can help and support you. Whether your school district has closed or you have been evacuated or displaced, this is a difficult time for everyone. I’m not sure if linking fundraisers are allowed.
If you are a team in the area that can provide support, including facilities, equipment, or advice and resources in general, please share your contact information so that affected teams can reach out directly.
This is a devastating and ongoing tragedy, but I hope we can all get through it stronger, together. Please prioritize your health and well-being, robotics can always wait until you’re ready to come back.
Team 2404 has suspended all activities as our students and community have been massively displaced by the Eaton Fire. While our shop at the Jackie Robinson Community Center was spared, students and mentors have lost their homes, workplaces, and schools. Thankfully, everyone is safe.
We are prioritizing the safety and recovery of our community before we can think about robotics again, but we also recognize that resuming our activities could be a helpful return to normalcy for our students. If you have any advice on navigating this, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
Thank you to the teams that have already reached out, including but not limited to 980, 1452, and FIRST CA. Thank you to everyone in advance.
Please stay safe, everyone.
