Support the New York State FIRST bill

As the new year begins and excitement builds for Kick-Off 2018, some things remain the same: Team 340’s continued efforts to bring more FIRST Robotics teams to the State of New York.

Six years in the making, in 2018 we will continue our efforts to get our bill passed in the NYS assembly and re-passed in the NYS senate in an effort to create a grant program specifically-designed to help NYS schools establish FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams.

Knowing the invaluable benefits to teens that FRC provides, Team 340 believes that all teens should have the opportunity to benefit from FIRST the way that we have. Both bills provide funding to help develop FRC teams for kids in grades 9-12 in communities across the Empire State, and our recent meeting with a representative from the office of Governor Andrew Cuomo went well and ensured that this effort looks promising.

We are continuing these efforts with the invaluable support of other FRC teams, such as FIRST Team 1511 Rolling Thunder, and we appreciate the support of other NYS FRC teams, as well. We must also extend our sincere thanks to Senator Mike Ranzenhofer for his ongoing-and-continued support of our team and this initiative, and to Assemblymember Harry Bronson for supporting this effort, as well!
