Svr 2024

I am getting excited! This is the 25? Anniversary of SVR, and for the first time in 23 years is at a new venue. Also, SVR has always been an end of season match, not a week 1.

1999 was the first year, though the name’s changes a couple of times. Y’all do the math but 25 is close enough.

Wonder why they couldn’t go back to the same venue or bump it up a week instead?

The prior venue was charging exorbitant amounts to host the event and weren’t the easiest to work with, from what I heard.

I figured the costs to rent these arenas is a main reason. Must be tough in areas that have no other options for that size

No Cheesy Poofs at SVR = not a ‘real’ SVR, we need to keep the 254 winning SVR streak alive lol.

Its legendary. (obv I meant it as a joke)

I believe the late Jim Beck was responsible for getting San Jose State as a venue. He was a ME prof there. He later was California Regional Director, and his wife Ginny also volunteered. I am greatful for being in FRC since 99, but also sad since so many of the folks I’ve started with are no longer with us, including Mark Leon, Jim Beck, Woody, Crazy Nick, NASA Joe Hering.

One of the best things about being a judge, is seeing fellow judges and mentors who were student team members.

Excited to see everyone at SVR coming from Idaho. Good luck!

We are excited too, made so many connections and friends with teams from Idaho last year and are enjoying competing with them at SVR right now.
