A couple teammates of mine were debating which one is better team name, Swagbotics or Roboswag. What do you guys think?
Honestly, none of the above. They don’t really roll off the tongue.
What does swag mean in england? In the US, it is often used for promotional material like T shirts, or free tickets…
If you become Swagbotics, can I buy a team tshirt??
Swaggerbots?
You should be The Royal Swagbotics
To be honest I don’t see the difference so I don’t really care
Agreed.
In-jokes don’t often work well as team names—unless you’ve got a really good story behind the name, and don’t mind explaining it to every sponsor and many FRC judges.
Swagg Divas (real FLL team name)
I don’t know about England, but in the US it’s recently become popular as a slang term, in addition to what IKE said.
Urban Dictionary* defines it as:
"apperance, style, or the way he or she presents them selves.
Example:He got a killa swag."
*WARNING: while the first definition is family-friendly, the rest of the page stretches it a bit.
As much as I like Swagbotics…Roboswag rolls off the tongue a bit better.
Roboswag
I think both names will get lost in the shuffle with all the other “Robo–” and “–botics” team names. But, given the choice, I’d go Swagbotics as its stands out a little more.
This is what I think:
Swagbotics implies that your trying to incorporate swag with robotics, almost like that is what your team is all about.
Team Swagbotics 1884
Roboswag implies that your robot has swag, and is more of a description rather than a goal. (plus its easier to say)
Team Roboswag 1884
I vote for RoboSwag.
I think Roboswag is a little easier to say.
Actually…
SWAG is slang in some circles for Super Wild-A** Guess. It means you really don’t have a clue what’s going on, so you think this will work. (After that, you do the analysis and figure out that your SWAG won’t work, so you make changes.)
Roboswag is easier to say. But you will want to have the story…
I know! I know! Trollbotics!
RoboSwag sounds better.
I think Swagbotics sounds like a robot team, and Roboswag sounds like something you’d give away at competition events.
