Swerve Drive 2024 team 4500

Introducing the all new kraken and Neo powered swerve drive presented to you by team 4500’s glorious CAD Team!

This design is based off of our 2023 design with some new additions. Namely the usage of the Kraken motor, an acrylic plate to keep carpet hairs out of the angle bearing, a larger Colson wheel, and positioning the wheel closer to the corner of the frame for increased stability.

Enjoy!

May be some fastener interference hear as drawn, assuming this hole is used to attach the forks below.

other than that looks good on first glance. top plat may be a little too aggressively pocketed and could use some fillets around a few fasteners.

It’s always great to see custom swerve designs - thanks for posting!

Just a heads up, your steering gear currently interferes with one of your top plate spacers (and gets scarily close to another one). Moving them out a little bit will save you a headache during build season.

Thank you so much for catching this! This just saved our team hours of pain!

Here is the new version of the file with this issue fixed!:

This would prove worrisome but this was based off of last years design which worked splendidly with a very close tolerance:

However I do agree that there needs to be a few more fillets on the plates which I changed in the most recent version which I just posted on this thread.

Hey Nick, just wanted to let you know that our team won the creativity award for our swerve drive design at the green country regional last week. If you hadn’t caught that giant error in our design early, on we probably wouldn’t have done as well. Thanks so much for catching this error and we at team 4500 wish you and your team all the best.
