Synergized Scouter - The Key to Alliance Selection Starts Here

Synergized Scouter is a brand-new Android, Windows, and macOS application designed specifically for teams participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition. This app, although originating from Australia, is versatile enough for use anywhere in the world. It targets a very important aspect of FRC strategy: efficient, accurate, real-time scouting of competing robots. Synergized Scouter bridges the gap between raw data collection and actionable insights, enabling teams to make informed decisions on the best way to approach gameplay strategy in alliance selection.

Key Features of Synergized Scouter

  1. Effortless installation process
Synergized Scouter is designed with user convenience in mind, ensuring that every team can quickly and easily access the app, regardless of their technical expertise. The app is distributed through Google Drive, streamlining the installation process and making it accessible to teams worldwide and free.
  2. Comprehensive Scouting Metrics
  • Autonomous mode performance
  • Scoring capabilities (e.g., game piece handling, shooting accuracy)
  • Defense and mobility
  • Endgame strategies
  1. Data Synchronization and Sharing

Synergized Scouter harnesses the power of Google Forms and Google Sheets to streamline data synchronization and accessibility. Once submitted, the data is automatically organized and displayed in Google Sheets, offering real-time access to scouting information for all team members of both your team and others that use the application. This open-data model encourages teams to contribute scouting efforts and share insights, benefiting everyone involved in the competition.

Why use Synergized Scouter

  1. Strategic Edge
FRC matches are won through strategic excellence. Synergized Scouter equips teams with detailed scouting data, enabling them to draft alliances for alliance selection and counter opponents’ strengths effectively throughout the whole competition.
  2. Efficiency and Accuracy
Traditional scouting methods, such as paper forms, are prone to errors and can be cumbersome to process. Synergized Scouter eliminates these inefficiencies, ensuring data accuracy and faster decision-making.
  3. Fostering Collaboration
Synergized Scouter supports inter-team cooperation by enabling data sharing. Teams can work together to create comprehensive scouting reports, strengthening alliances and promoting the FRC ethos of “Coopertition.”
  4. Comparison with Similar Scouting Apps

Synergized Scouter stands out by focusing on individual robot performance rather than just match outcomes or alliances outcomes. This robot-centric approach highlights each machine’s capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses, providing teams with a clearer understanding of their contributions to the game.

Use Case Example

Imagine you’re at an FRC regional competition in Sydney, Australia. Your team is tasked with selecting alliance partners for the playoffs. With Synergized Scouter:

  • During Qualification & Practice Matches: Your team members use their devices to log observations about every robot on the field.
  • At Selection Time: You pull up the data collected to identify high-performing teams that complement your team’s robot strengths.
  • In Play-Offs: You watch the alliances that you might have to play, creating and discovering flaws in their strategy and being able to improve your own.

Synergized Scouter is so much more than just a scouting app; it’s a tool for fostering smarter, more data-driven competition in FRC. With real-time data collection, powerful analysis features, and global compatibility, it helps teams achieve their full potential both on and off the field. Be it an Australian rookie team trying to find its first alliance or an experienced global powerhouse, Synergized Scouter is the scouting app to use.

Neither your post nor your website has installation instructions. The privacy policy page makes me think it is an Android app installed from the app store, is that correct?

How does it aggregate data from several different scouters? Does each scouter need to have an internet connection?

Yes each device must have internet connection. The app is being rolled out android, windows, macOS, and iOS and I’m still working on deciding how to make it accessible for each operating system, the current one that’s only in testing is android. The website may have more links and more detail as the app gets released further

Do you have one code base for all four supported platforms? If so, what framework are you using that allows that? Could you add Linux support and web app support as well?

It sounds like everything gets submitted through Google forms and analyzed with Google sheets. Does the app automatically set those up, or is there template that teams need to copy?

Just to check:

At events, each device in use for scouting must have an active internet connection?

I’ll issue a general reminder that not all events have decent cell service, and quite a few don’t have WiFi available during the event. If an event had both problems, it would obviously not have the app available for use…

since this is a beta version and I am working on a very very small budget it is really just submitting data to a google form and analysing it on a google sheet, though I am looking at the possibilities of trying to upgrade to a proper database depending on the success throughout the main season.

But the current problem is I need 12 alpha testers on android devices so I can actually publish the app for use. But I am aiming for more like 20 android testers if anybody pulls out.

Yes that is why the app is targeted more at mobile phones which I know wont always work at every event.

But either way the current problem is I need 12 alpha testers on android devices so I can actually publish the app for use. But I am aiming for more like 20 android testers if anybody pulls out.

I’d be happy to test on Android. I sent my email address to you.

I’ve never developed a phone app before. Is the number of testers something that is required by the app store approval process?

Yes the Google play store requires a minimum of 12 users to be apart of the testing for up to 14 days for me to be able to publish it, if you have anyone else who might like to test it out send me the link and ill add them as soon as i get around to it :+1:
