Talon receiving only position no velocity from Redline Encoder

So I have a redline encoder hooked up to a Talon SRX. When I test it through Phoenix Tuner, the talon only registers position data no velocity. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the encoder or just the arm moves so slowly (500:1 reduction on a 775pro) that it just is 0.

As I understand it, the Redline endcoder sits on the back of the motor, meaning it has no knowledge of your 500:1 reduction. Is the motor running while you are doing the Self-Test? If not that is why it reports 0, as the test reports the state of the Talon and sensors at the instant the test is run.
It also appears the Redline encoder has 2 modes, a quadrature and PWM mode, have you double checked the correct one is wired into the correct pins of the Talon?

I was following this to test it.

I thought it meant that I have to move it, stop, and self test. Let me try self test while it turns. I know it’s in the right mode though.

You could also use the plot feature of Tuner, see if the velocity matches what you would expect in real time.

Ah true forgot about that. Thanks!!

No problem!
