TBA -Pine Tree

I’ve noticed that TBA for New England hasn’t updated since before Pine Tree was gotten rid of, I know its because of how FIRST displays stuff, and where on the website TBA is pulling, but is anyone else super confused? I keep having to go find lists on FIRST, to see who is actually going to which event. I just wanted to make sure I’m not the only person to have noticed this.

TBA is a bit behind on what it’s displaying for a number of districts. Here in NC district we had a few rearrangements of which teams were attending which events (due to overcrowding, etc.) but TBA still shows the older event rosters even though FIRST has updated things on the Event Web. Not sure why that is, but it may be a good idea to point this out to TBA and have them scrape the data again to get an accurate account of the season and events.

Note: I do not speak for TBA.

FIRST has 2 registration databases. Before you ask, no, I don’t know why. They also have two different webpages for searching for registration info. One of them is “FRC-Events”, the other is “Team-Event-Search”. Each of these webpages connects to a different database.

The FRC-Events webpage uses the official FIRST API - just like TBA. The Team-Event-Search directly taps into an ElasticSearch instance. The official API and the ES instance regularly diverge. It is not allowed for community members to use this ES instance for third-party tooling.

The official FIRST API went about a month without updating; this propagated to TBA, as you have noticed. This means FRC-Events was also out of date, but not Team-Event-Search. It recently got fixed and should propagate through everything soon :tm:.

Aside: typically, TBA does not automatically delete anything. Event deletions are typically manual. It’s unlikely anyone has gotten around to deleting Pine Tree yet.

Makes sense. I figured they pulled from different places. Now it seems FIRST is having some trouble with NE. All of those Week 0’s… aren’t week 0’s.
