Team 1168 Robot Teaser ///HAVE YOUR MIND BLOWN\\\

Ok so maybe more of a picture of our robot than an actual teaser, any way I was bored.

PS: I suck at photoshop and just slapped a bunhca random filters on

looks nice. I like the use of sliders (my team is also using them). Are you guys going for a minibot deploying/defensive strategy? I don’t see an arm.

If your bumpers are going to attach directly onto your robot frame, you will not pass inspection. The frame perimeter/bumper rules do not allow for any concave sections of bumpers.

Or any gaps in the backing that are more than 8" long (unless they’re less than 1/4" deep).

How do you plan on keeping the Minibot on the platform until deployment?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t see anything in the rules saying that. Could you give me a section number?

We’re working on a system, that’s an old picture.

<R07>. Read it, carefully. Note that bumpers must be mounted to the Frame Perimeter (<R07-K>). Also note <R07-A>'s specification that the entire Frame Perimeter must be protected.

Now, go to Section 1.6. Note the definition of Frame Perimeter, especially the the blue box, which tells how to check it. (Hint: replace “wrap a piece of string” with “stretch a rubber band” inside the blue box.)

If you still think that configuration will work within the rules, then I’d like to see the rules that allow it.

You can’t have your bumpers be concave. The bumper perimeter would be the same as if you wrapped a string around the outermost part of your robot. Bumpers have to be in that shape.

Where in the rules does it say you can’t have concave bumpers? Or are you applying the definition of frame perimeter (as defined on page 9 of the introduction) to the rule about bumpers <R07>. (The design is a polygon and the bumpers do cover all the external vertices.)

I am telling you with absolute certainty that your configuration is illegal. You can either listen to us now and change it or ignore what we are telling you and have to change it at your competition … it’s your choice. I am not being rude, but trying to make sure you understand that the rules cited above do force you to not have concave bumpers. There is even a Q & A clarification on this that definitely shows your configuration as illegal.

Believe me, if it were legal many of us would be doing the same thing.

Here us the GDC ruling that Paul referred to.

Thanks Mike, all I was looking for was the actual ruling on this.
