Team 1708 Amp'D Robotics 2024 Reveal - Shockwave

Year 20.

Learning from our mistakes from last year we decided to go a little crazy.

Presenting our 2024 robot:

Shockwave

  • Drivetrain

    • MK4I-L3 Kraken Drive with a 4 inch Colson wheel
    • .125” 1”x2” tube chassis
    • 2”x2” Cross brace
    • ABS Belly pan
  • Superstructure

    • .125” 1”x2” tubing
    • Carbon fiber bracing
    • 350:1 Arm rotation gearboxes mounted directly to the superstructure.
    • CANcoder and REV through bore encoder to track and tune arm rotation
    • CANdle indicates when a note is present
  • Arm

    • 1”x2” .0625” Tubing
    • Centrally mounted 90 degree gearbox driven by a 1:100 planetary gearbox and NEO motor
    • 2:1 wrist rotation mounted at the end of the arm with a REV through bore encoder
    • .25” aluminum bracing
    • 2 x .25” climbing hooks mounted on either side for quick climbing on the chain
  • Note Intake / Shooter

    • Dual purpose mechanism
    • Dual Intake rollers powered by a NEO 550 with a 4:1 planetary gearbox
    • Beam break sensors are mounted on either side to detect when a Note has been acquired. CANdle reacts to beam break
    • Central “feed roller” is is geared 2:1 from the same NEO 550 gearbox to help propel Notes into the shooting wheels
    • Note shooter is powered by one (1) Falcon 500 at a 1:1 ratio using six (6) 4” traction wheels
  • Secondary Climber

    • Dual Modified West Coast Products climbers mounted to the superstructure
    • Double sided hooks for the ability to climb on either side of the chain
    • The intended use is only for climbing with a partner if needed
    • Each powered by one (1) Falcon 500 with a ratio of 65:1
  • Lower Ballast Plates

    • Nicknamed the Tombstones
    • Two (2) steel plates that can be added or removed from the underbelly of the robot to help move the Center of Gravity depending on how we need to hang on the chain or if are arm will be raised while driving during the match.
    • Each plate is made of 1008 steel and weighs +/- 11 pounds

We will be competing at:

Week 1: Greater Pittsburgh Regional
