If you ever have to replace the belts, That is going to be one hard job…

Are those side rails (the ones that have the wheels) curved?

Also, how do you plan to attach your electronics to the belly pan? Do you plan to use nuts and bolts?

Think there was a bit of heat deformation there

We brazed the chassis ourselves and ended up deforming it slightly. This was the first time we’d tried that.

We are going to fix this by using smaller pulleys that leave the belts entirely above the bellypan.

Spot on! We couldn’t use a TIG welder so brazing is the best we could do. Unfortunately, this caused a few unforeseen problems, so we will not be using this method again.

What sort of equipment were you using? What sort of problems were you having?

We used brazing rods and an oxyacetylene torch as well as a wooden jig we made and some clamps. This caused serious warping of the aluminum and the expansion of the aluminum made it pop out of place even while clamped. Also, we accidentally heated one spot too much and one of the bumper supports fell off!
