Please check out Team 2064’s new website for 2011.
It is not finished yet, but let me know what you think of it and how I can improve it.

It looks pretty good. 1 thing though, is the FIRST link at the top is blocked by the ‘home’ button. Also, on the challenge page, you may want to consider putting some information about each game as well as the names.
It would be cool to have the FIRST logo on the website to link to the usfirst.org, its also one of the first things they look for when evaluating the sites for awards. You can always look at the rubric for the website awards at http://usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Community/FRC/FRC_Documents_and_Updates/2010%20website%20criteria%20section%20of%20team%20manual.pdf. This will not only make you aware of how your website will be judge for awards, but it will also give you suggestions for how to make your website better.
Some kind of detailed year to year history, pictures of robot/competition, videos of game animation/robot are always nice.
On the “challenges” page, you may want to use lower-resolution images. Even with my 3Mbps DSL, I watched the images load from the top down.
The black text on red background almost gives me a headache, along with the link color on red, but this may be personal preference. This might also be attributed to the font-family, too, but I can’t be sure. I would try change the content container’s background color and/or changing the text color.
There’s a thread that was posted today (i think) about the same thing (different team). you should check it out. (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=88213)
It definitely is up to a good start. Very aesthetically pleasing, nothing distracting. I suggest a calendar for the upcoming events, it makes it look very organized. On the history of FIRST page, maybe you could add a how FIRST affects us or somewhere else on the website (i apologize if you have that and i didnt see it).
Another really good thing to do is to look at teams’ websites that have won awards. My team, 461 Westside Boiler Invasion, is the only team to win the World Championship Best Website Award twice.
Websites you should check out (there are many more look around for them)
www.boilerinvasion.org (my team’s; won this year)
http://femaidens.org/
http://www.simbotics.org/
Always, always, always (generally) use images that are sized at the actual size you are using on the website. This saves on bandwidth and load time and everyone is happier than if you have to download a 2000x2000 image to your computer to view it in a 200x200 space.
Another thread similar to this was posted today on chief you should check it out(http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=88213)
You’re heading in the right direction with website, thats for sure. It’s definitely aesthetically pleasing; nothing too distracting. I suggest adding a calendar for you countdown purposes. also somewhere you could add a how FIRST affected you as a group paragraph somewhere (forgive me if there is already).
My team, 461 Westside Boiler Invasion, is the only team to win the World Championship Best Website Award twice, 2006 and 2010. My point is you really should look at the top team’s website for a template of some sort.
websites you should check out:
www.boilerinvasion.org

http://femaidens.org/
Good Luck!
Thank you everyone for your input.
avanboekel, what browser were you using and what was your screen resolution?
I think it’s really good!
I like how you acknowledge every sponsor, student member, and mentor! It kind of shows people who you guys are, and I think that the website’s really good!
The only thing I’d say is maybe you should add some stuff to the homepage, like short bullets of information on the sides of the pictures in the middle!
Joseph … It’s looking really good. Keep up the good work.
