Winter is finally over, the weather is warming up, and it’s time to start up the barbeque! Gus Robotics Team 228 is pleased to announce our first BBQ fundraiser event of the 2009 season at the Meriden Daffodil Festival! Stop by the event on Saturday to watch the parade and taste some of our famously delicious hickory-smoked pulled pork sandwiches (among the other items on the menu), while enjoying the live music at the event.

Also at the event are amusement midway rides for the children, and a craft fair for the adults, along with over 600,000 daffodils in bloom in Hubbard Park, the largest municipal park in all of New England!

So be sure to bring your family, friends, and appetite, as this is one event you will not want to miss!

I don’t even want to talk about how sad I am going to be for missing out on this. It doesn’t help that some GUS folks shared the fact that they use a special blend of ingredients to make the dry rub for the delectable, mouth-watering, absolutely incredible BBQ - TEXAS STYLE - smoked. I learned all this Saturday evening in Atlanta.

Nevermind all the daffodils I’ll be missing as well. I’m going to have to put my thinking cap on with this event and figure out how to attend sometime in the future.

I guessed one of the ingredients but still got wrong. I think. Go figure.

Jane, you were talking to me and my wife Joy, and sorry but the head chef won’t even let me know all the ingredients in his secret recipe.

My job is to keep the smoker stoked and not run out of meat.

As the weekend draws closer, it looks like the Meriden Daffodil Festival is lining up nicely with our annual April heat wave!

Forecasts are predicting us to break over 80F for the first time this year in Connecticut, with sunny weather and highs of 81F and 87F on Saturday and Sunday respectively!

The weather is in your favor! I wish I could come- good luck with everything!
