Team 237 presents video of 2006 Robot - P.A.L.

Video finally available of our sweet robot for 2006’s AIM HIGH Challenge.

Nicknamed P.A.L. 2006 (Professionally Automated Landrover) after our founding mentor of 7 years who retired last year, Carll Pallokat, this robot is our best to date and a tribute to all mentors of 237 past, present, and future.

As always, any questions feel free to post them here.

We will be at the Hartford (UTC) Regional this weekend, and then at Annapolis, and then off to Atlanta.

Note: The shooting clips are pre-tuning

That is one cool looking bot you have there. 360? rotating turret. Very nice.

It seemed like you were shooting at much less than 12 m/s. You weren’t making shots from distances which (just from experince) seem like they would be easy to make from.

Do you have tilt control as well?
How many balls can you store?
Can you shoot on the move?

Great job team 237!

Mike C.

Bravo!

I’m impressed with the turret and general KISS application. I can’t wait to compare notes when I see you on Thursday at UTC.

Pete

The view from behind the goal is our bot in the first starting position. During our autonomous we will drive forward to make sure it’s easier to score. I believe when we tested it, we were shooting at around 20mph.

No tilt control. This was originally the idea, but we found that there is an awfully large deadzone (10-15 feet) where we can get the ball in. As someone mentioned, KISS.

I believe we can store just around 10 balls (little more, 11-12?)

With a few regional camera code changes, I believe we will be able to shoot from a moderate speed.

I think Mike covered all of those questions quite accurately. Any other questions any of you may have about our robot?

Yea where are the tag sale signs?

don’t you worry, they will be there! :yikes:  along with DA CUTTT bling

I believe the first design allowed for 13, but was changed to 11 or 12 as Mike guessed.

I like how the video goes to the music. Nice job on that.

I’ll check out the video at home. At the moment on the school computers it fails halfway through and gives me a code error… much like the first shots in the video… See you guys at Annapolis.

Edit: Highly impressive robot! Cant wait too see it in person. :yikes:

Really awesome guys
Can’t wait to see all of you at Annapolis and see the bot in action.
See you there!

Very impressive!!!

Looks like the ball trajectory is such that a 5’ tall robot cannot block you. Is this true?

We haven’t seem you guys since you picked us for finals and we won NYC back in '02. We look forward to seeing you and many others tomorrow. This is our first time at UTC, and by looking at the talent, this should be lots of fun!!!

Wow, Scott I have to say…the video makes your bot look even nicer than the pics on your cell phone!

Can’t wait to see you guys in Atlanta
