Our previous site was lost and we had to completely redo our site. It’s not completely finished, but it’s getting close. Any tips and critique is would be helpful.
Design: I liked your design. It’s very clean and easily displays your team’s information. The menu’s are look nice with the metallic-looking gradients. You have a good balance of images and text, and the page loads quickly.
Navigation: Your website is very easy to navigate and you know where you are going with your links. I really like your, I’m assuming AJAX, minus button that allows the different elements of your site to collapse. Very nice.
You have a lot of good information about FIRST and you include their link on every page. Looks good when you do that to FIRST.
I noticed you don’t put your students pictures on the web site? That might be something to consider, although you may have certain rules according to the school on that.
Your media page is a completely different layout than the rest of your website. I noticed that it is a BETA, and that could be the reason? But, it is a good idea to keep the design of the web page the same in all pages. Also, I’m on Firefox, but most of the page had some errors. Some buttons had borders around them, while some didn’t. Still could be because you are just starting it up.
Overall, I like your site. Very clean design and easily tells about your team’s story. A little more content could be put in to your sub-team pages, such as pictures or even video, to create a more content-rich page. Just remember to keep it clean and easy like you have it now. Hope your entering your site at your regional!
Oh nooos! The pictures on one of your pages used to have team 11 in it of our win in Palmetto, no longer there.
Site looks nice and clean as always.
On the team history page not sure if its just me but the text that’s to the right of the picture doesn’t look all that great. It would look better if the picture was formatted to be directly above the text.
Thank you all for your comments. I’m fixing the page to center the image (the preview shows it as center when it’s not when it loads).
the topic of the the beta site, our site is run off of DotNetNuke, and it is really hard to make multimedia work well, and i just skipped it and made a new site.
Does it look bad to have part of the site look different?
I love the site. I haven’t exactly had time to browse the entire site (having issues reinstalling XP) but from what I see so far, it looks good.
I believe that even though you may use different systems/software to create the two sites (main and media), you should strive to make them look as uniform as possible, yet still make them distinct.
For example, on our sites, I took a template that was made for the main site, and somewhat copied it for the media site. Same background image, took the color scheme from the main and incorporated it into the media site, even if it technically doesn’t look the same.
I really like the navigation and how easy it is to find information on the site. I only recommend getting rid of the watermark on the main page as it makes the text a little hard to read. Other than that, it’s great!
