Team 3506 YETI Robotics Robot Reveal

We finally made it!

Apparently being tall is rare but it was no easy feat. We had to build two robots to deal with the complexity of being tall and compact.

We ended up with a:
2 speed 6 wheel traction drive 8/15 ft/s
2.5 second climber
180 degree turret fed by two linear belt systems.

We are dialing in our shooter on our practice robot and looking forward to the Pitt County and Asheville district events!

Awesome bot, guys! Looking forward to seeing it in person at Pitt County.

Good job! It’s a very unique robot and it’ll do well! Good luck guys!

Wow great bot as always guys. Excited to see it at pitt.

Looks pretty good. Just a quick question what are the pneumatics for? I would guess from where they are place they are for gear gripping or pushing.

That gear peg flexed pretty hard when the pilot pulled the gear out. Have you had many issues with losing gears in this manner?

The pneumatics are for the shifters and the gear flap on the rear. We are also reserving air volume for a ground pickup mechanism which we will probably not have installed until Asheville. Because our robot is really tall, we are also extending a flap towards the feeder station in auto so that the fuel will heap on top of our robot as we empty it by shooting in autonomous.

These other team videos inspired us to make our gear mechanism much faster so we are actually having our human player practice slinging the gears as far down the field as possible through the human player station to cut cycle times for our new ground feeding gear mechanism. If it works, our tower and turret can actually slide to the rear of the robot and increase our volume.

Oh neat. That’s an interesting gear strategy I haven’t thought about.

I was able to view this robot the weekend before bag and tag, and it was amazing. Disappointed we aren’t able to compete together in any district events, so hopefully we’ll see each other at the state championship.

Yeah the 2017 Spork robot looks amazing we will certainly see you at states!

Really cool robot!! Pitt county should be fun, can’t wait.
