Four wheel drive, four wheel independent steering…
Woah…
Do balls have a tendency to get stuck under your chassis? I could see that being a problem but you could mount a rail guard to prevent it.
Not sure yet, still have to mount the ball handling mechanisms. But there will be rollers to guide the balls to the lifting system.
I agree with SuperNerd on this one. I assume these are coaxially driven swerve modules? Also, did you design this in the offseason?
We’ve been refining the design of the wheel pods for the past couple of years. Each pod contains a CIM, and each one is turned by a Bainbots motor and gearbox, via a belt. More pics and videos are on:
This is great, I can’t wait to see what you put on top of this amazing drive train.
Very nice swerve drive. Do you have any close up pics that show how you do your steering actuation?
We did some preliminary work on designing a swerve drive module this fall, so I can appreciate your efforts.
Yeah, I have some more detailed pictures, I’ll get them uploaded as soon as I can.
And here it is shooting…
Great job shooting! I love your intake and shooting wheel!
Question:
Can you suck up balls without firing them out or getting them lodged in the shooter? (e.g. is it just one belt?)
Yeah, there are two separate systems, one to pick up and one to direct into the shooter.
Uh…ok. Cool.
Very cool bot. I noticed that there weren’t very many safety glasses in use in your videos. Please make sure that the students are being safe, especially in such close proximity to a working robot.
