Just wanted to announce that Rectify’s Tinker Tie Beta, an RGB LED bow tie electronics kit, is now available! After a successful Kickstarter campaign, we are finally able to sell kits directly to teams and students. We conceived this project as a great way to give students hands-on and tangible experience with electronics and microcontroller programming. A large portion of all the proceeds from sales will go directly to Rectify!
Looks like a small lithium ion soft pack, 3.7v around 1000-800mah. These are lipo so please take caution. They will burn you quite nicely if they vent due to a short or overcurrent.
The batteries we use are 500 mAh LiPoly batteries with circuit protection (to protect the battery in the event of a short). They are commonly used for wearable electronics purposes. At about half brightness, we’ve found they can power a Tinker Tie for up to 20 hours of continuous use.
I also forgot to mention, we’ve entered our project on Hackaday.io for their 2016 Hackaday Prize. If anyone would like to follow or like our project here it would help us out a lot!
