Team 5254 - Recruiting Mentors for 2019 and beyond

Team 5254 is looking for mentors to join our team. Our mentor base is pretty non-existent, on almost every side. As such we’re looking to add some new mentors improve our ability to give our students the experience of winning a banner.

We’re looking particularly for mentors with skills in the following areas:

  • Design
  • CAD
  • Manufacturing
  • Prototyping
  • Graphic design and media
  • Programming
  • Electrical
  • Strategy
  • Scouting
  • Business
  • Chairmans
  • Outreach
  • Literally every area in FRC
  • Other skills you think might be useful to our team

Requirements:

  • Have a beating heart
  • Want to be there
  • Have 0+ years of experience
  • Show up to some meeting or competition at some point during the year probably

Benefits:

  • If you hold up your hand, you can block out the “5” on our bumpers and briefly pretend we’ve won something
  • Plenty of robot repair-work to do, especially during the finals
  • Increased familiarity with the entire VEXPro product line
  • Silver medals make great fashion statements
  • Actually some of the greatest students in the whole freakin’ program

In all seriousness, my time with 5254 is coming to an end soon, as I’m graduating in 2019, and my assistance to the team during the school year has always been limited due to making school a priority.

This team has been great to me, and the students are passionate and hungry to learn and do more with this program. If you’re anywhere in the Ithaca area, do consider helping out HYPE, even if it’s on a limited basis.

You can PM me here on Chief Delphi or email me at leonkevi (at) gmail.com if you’re interested.

How many wins you got?

Kevin Leonard to Buffalo for the 2020 season to mentor 1507?

Yeah but do you do field relativ-

Eh, nevermind.

I think I meet at least one of these requirements…

In all seriousness, from my small amount of time working with 5254s kids this year, this is a true statement

This is one of the greatest things I have ever read!

Instructions unclear

I’m in.

Really though, these kids are some of the best, and their mentors are pretty awesome too. Just don’t let Roy and Brad beat you up too much.

Too soon man…

It is more than just hype. These guys are good.

If I had time for another team, 5254 would be high on my list of who to help out. They are an incredibly driven, talented, and friendly group who are truly in pursuit of excellence.

Potential signing bonus to be paid out in extra silver medals.

I traveled to champs with 5254 and I can say that the mentor and student culture is super amazing and supportive. Personally, I would love to come in for a few days during Winter break when I’m not mentoring 639 and help out.

How… they did WHAT???

I’m actually curious how did they pull that off :stuck_out_tongue:

Geez, and I thought our silver medals at FLR were too much. I honestly feel bad for you guys.
