Team 573's minibot

Here’s our first test run of our minibot:

Now it’s time to look into speeding up the climb and adding final touches.

Awesome job, that looks really nicely put together. I was wondering if you had a clocked time for a full ascent? I am also wondering if you were using any magnets to help it stay on? Keep up the good work!

The final time was approx. 3.5 seconds, and there are absolutely no magnets on the minibot. Just surgical tubing applying force to increase the traction of the tetrix wheels.

We calculated the minibot ascent at about 3.57 seconds. We didn’t use magnets. Instead, our entire design wraps around the pole.

We have a new video to share:

A lot has been added to our minibot since the last video. Light switches have been added and a device to hold the bot to the pole has been added as well. The minibot weighs a total of seven pounds right now, but we think we can put it on a diet. The climb time has increased from just under four seconds to six.

For this test, we clamped our minibot cradle to our cart and pushed the cart towards the pole to simulate deployment.

Comments and critiques are appreciated.
