Team 69.4 StewiePlus 2017 Robot: Jerry

After coming off out of South Florida regional, we discussed for hours changes that needed to be made to our robot. There were a lot of changes that needed to be made and we decided, why not build a new and better robot? And so we did!

Team 69.4 StewiePlus is proud to present it’s new robot for the 2017 FIRST SteamWorks season: Jerry

Enjoy!!

I see a little hole in your strategy, guys.

I know you’ve worked hard on this robot and its subsequent upgrades, but I saw it pick up two gears at one time. That’s a yellow card. Fix this issue, and I think this bot has a great chance at New York City and the St. Louis Championship!

Thank you! We hope to do really well at competitions.

As for the yellow card issue, we noticed in our scouting that very few teams would go for yellow cards, and that if we went for it we’d stand out. We’re hoping it’s the best strategy to get first seed and if not, get picked.

Although this will help you get picked, I think going for a straight up red card every match may help you seed first. Something I’ve truly never seen someone do yet.

Jerry could speed up that climb dramatically with a little more practice I’m sure. Maybe 3 sets of 10 reps every 2 minutes 30 seconds until NYC?

Also, love the auton. Those PID Loops look very finely tuned.

You know, I never thought about that. That could be a huge game changer and could help set us ahead even in playoffs. There have been a lot of ties throughout many competitions, even at the South Florida regional with two 255-255 semi-finals matches in a row. A red card every match would definitely be the winning tie breaker, and I think that’s something we’re going to use as much as possible.

Thanks for the suggestion! We’re probably going to be seeing it a lot more as competitions become more competitive.

We’ve been planning on regularly running the Jerry climber to get a faster climb. We’ve been charging the robot with a lot of protein as well (we’re still charging with a balanced amount of nutrients though, we don’t want an unhealthy robot) We’re aiming to eventually reach a one second climb by Champs. As for NYC, it’s probably going to be more around five seconds.

And thank you for the auton compliment! Our programmers have been working long hours to get it down. They’re even working to get our full-court gear shot auton working!

Seems like you extended outside the frame volume for the climb. Try using some polycarb. If the judges can’t see the extension, it isn’t a foul.

This is the kind of quality advice I come to Chief Delphi for

I seem to recall a certain team doing that at Utah, I can’t for the life of me think who it was…:stuck_out_tongue:

Hey…

Does Jerry have a way to avoid hitting the davit channel before engaging the touchpad?
