Having watched this robot in action for the past week, it’s the real deal. You all are going to have another amazing year and deservedly so. Make NYCFirst proud!

It was a pleasure hosting you all this week! We’re excited to see 2579 again at HVR.

Can’t wait for Palmetto. We’re excited to make some friends down south!

Thanks for letting me know. I updated the links on the original post.

Why did you gather 5 balls then shoot 4 then intake 1 and shoot 2 rather than just shoot the 3 preloaded at the start, then go back and get 3 and shoot them again? In your 6 ball auto? I figured the latter would be more efficient

See you at Palmetto

If we shoot from our starting position, we would have to be at an angle and have 0 chance at the inner port from there. We could start straight on with the inner port, but then we would need to do some advanced movements which we haven’t had the time for.

Robot looks great and 6 ball auto very similar to our 2183 bot. Hope we get the chance to team up together would be a high scoring auto in week 1

694 always builds great robots and we really look forward to see you at RCC again this year(If there still is one). Are those two monstrous wheels on the shooter for inertia?

Indeed it is, we wanted to gain as much rotational inertia as possible while limiting the weight of the wheels. Therefore they are big and thin.

Team 694 is happy to announce that our 8 ball auton, which had been under development since prior to Palmetto, is now consistently working within 15 seconds!

We look forward to competing alongside the teams at our remaining events: Hudson Valley Regional, New York City Regional, and Detroit Championships!

The Coronavirus Update + New Drive Train

Today, our team learned that the Hudson Valley Regional was postponed until further notice. Knowing that the venue is less than an hour away from New Rochelle, an epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, we understood that the event was likely to be cancelled. Uncertainty surrounds the New York City Regional and Detroit Championships as well.

As a senior, it was disappointing to hear that our season was all but guaranteed to be over. It seems that the emotions of frustration, irresolution and deferral all blend together. Those who have been to the same competitions as us know that StuyPulse is a large team. We fill the stands and pits with our 100 students, mentors and parents. What I appreciate most about this team is that even when you are feeling lost, there is always someone else to lend you some strength. Even as a team leader, I’m grateful that my teammates are constantly inspiring me. Our newbies (what we call our freshman), now a few months more mature, can’t get enough of robotics. While everyone else stopped working, they took it upon themselves assemble the upgraded intake we designed for Hudson Valley. It reminded me that while the regular season may be over, my time on FRC as a student mentor is not. I hope to take this as an opportunity to help bring their ideas to life. Maybe we’ll build a turret, spindexer, or even a swerve drive: the one thing that’s been on everyone’s mind.

The drive team and software team have been working on some clever tricks in preparation for Hudson Valley. Here at StuyPulse, we’ve been fascinated about swerve for the past few years.

However, we never felt the need to do something other than tank drive. Our design philosophy is nicely summed up by Leonardo da Vinci’s words. “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication,” he once said.

Taking this off-season as a time to be bolder, we’ve been trying new drive configurations…

Spin Spin Win Win

Strafing

Teleop Test

Our team is saddened, but we are still working hard. Maybe we’ll be able to fully implement our “swerve” before week 23. We’re thankful that we were able to compete Week 1 at the Palmetto Regional. Many of our friends in New York, China, and the rest of the world, have not been so lucky. Looking to the near future, we can’t wait until postponed regionals resume. We’re excited to compete with this robot for just a few more times.

You guys are an amazing team. It was super fun to play with you guys in Daly last year and at Palmetto this year. It’s incredibly heartwarming to see teams like StuyPulse continue to innovate despite an impromptu delay to the season- an awesome embodiment of the ideals of FIRST. I’m thankful we were able to play at all this season, and I’m glad that we got to play it with you guys. Would love to see you guys at WVROX if you can :^)
