Team 754 May Need Help

Hello Everyone,

Alrighty-here’s what is going on. Our two main mentors will have to retire from our team this year and there are not too many others stepping up to fill the position. As a 3 year student, now graduated senior high, I would like to step up and try and take the position. As of now, we do not have really much community support, neither of the 3-5 neighbor school districts have had any interest in helping. 2 of those school districts have new superintendents, so chances have are getting better. Here is what I would like from you’s:

  • A list of things you guys do to get community support.
  • A list of a group structure
  • Different organizations that you guys pursue to get money
  • Anything else that you think would help me.

One of the first things you should do is look over the whitepaper section of CD. There are a lot of resources on fundraising and sponsorship there. Also, do a search on those terms in CD and you will find even more help.

You should look at NEMO’s Resources page. We’ve found the resources there to be extremely helpful.

In particular see:
Creating a Killer Team Packet - You need some version of this before approaching potential sponsors
List of other team’s handbooks - Good for team organization ideas (NEMO site link is broken, use this one)

I see you are a Wisconsin team. It may be helpful to try contacting GE Healthcare or Rockwell Automation- both are huge sponsors here in Wisconsin.

Check out “Charting a Political Course” under 2008 Resource Workshops.

You may wish to contact your Regional Director,
Susan Lawrence and let her know of your situation.

Thank you guys for all of the help. Susan has been helping us tremendously. On behalf team 754, thank you all for your support.

Matt
