Great Robot! What is the purpose of this VR Headset? It looks like an Oculus Meta Quest 3s. Do you use them as a Vision Processor? If yes, why did you prefer to use them instead of a Google Coral, Orange Pi, Mac Mini (6328 lol)

You guys cooked!

We’re running QuestNav (see comment above) on a Quest 3s and using a Limelight 3 to seed the pose. The advantage is that it will constantly track without having to see AprilTags and it’s relatively inexpensive. Also initial setup is fairly straightforward.

From our testing so far it never loses track within the duration of a match and its sub-centimetre precise.

The disadvantage is we have no idea how it’ll fair at an actual event and we’ve had very limited drive and testing time (2+ weeks of snow days). There’s also little support and documentation available and not much example code online anywhere. After the easy setup though we did have many headaches but it’s not super complicated, just lots of figuring out and trial and error.

Our autos are currently set up to use either vision or QuestNav for pose estimation and will switch between depending on performance later today.

And thanks!
