Hi!
First, I want to say welcome to FIRST and good luck in your first in-person season! It’s going to be hectic, things are going to go sideways when you least expect it, and your team is going to learn a whole ton.
In terms of recruitment: Chief Delphi is probably not a great place to reach out. Most of us on here are active on other teams, and CD as a whole only represents a very small slice of total FRC teams.
Definitely check out the Guide to Running FIRST Teams! Section 4 focuses on recruitment strategies and has some extra resources as well.
From my personal experience in team recruiting (I rounded up students for the first few years of 6814), I’ve found a lot of success in student networking and connecting through relevant clubs and organizations. See if you can present to the AP CS class, wood/metal shop classes, and anything that involves some level of design thinking. Talk to the students in the coding or gaming clubs. Talk to the kids who help build theatre props and sets. Hang flyers next to the 3D printers (at schools, at the local public library, etc). Pay extra attention to where you can connect with students whose backgrounds aren’t typically well-represented in STEM. I’m pretty sure that they discuss tools for that in the FIRST DEI training.
Best of luck!
