Also, about the website, iām not sure what happened, but i wound up in a square box for a subcategory and then somehow opened up another subcategory within that one and it was a box inside a box.
Boxception? Anyways, what browser are you using? Works fine on Firefox.
Iām using google chrome. Iām also not sure how it happened because i was haphazardly clicking about like a dipwad because my window froze due to having too many tabs open.
Itās the evil school networkā¦
I donāt know your level of expertise, but I utilized jQuery and PHP. I used Lightbox (which is the script that would open a window within a box on the page you clicked the link on). If you click a link multiple times, then I would assume it does give a kind of Boxception effect.

It looks like not everybody in the team photo in the background is included in the āmemberā category.
I also appreciate your one-man electrical teamā¦ haha. we have the same thing going on. Thereās one person on our team who is a senior and he has totally taken charge of the control systems so hopefully weāre able to recruit somebody to take his place for next year. (We have a team of 25 and 12 of us are seniors)
Also, the video on the āsign upā section doesnāt load. although that might be that iām on a school network, but usually iām able to load non-youtube videos.
How to recreate boxception:
Step 1 - go to Home Page
Step 2 - Click on Team Members
Step 3 - Click on Rayās Picture
Step 4 - Click on Team Members again
Step 5 - Click on Rayās Picture again
Step 6 - Repeat steps 2-5 as needed
Other then that itās a great site, good luck on the website award.
I think your website is slick, but not quite there yet. The biggest problem of your website is that your theme is slow, easily creates Boxception (at least in Chrome), and makes some information difficult to access (readability). Significant disadvantages like that should not outweigh aesthetics.
A good example of matching aesthetics with good content is the AdamBotsās website. They won the Website award last year (and HIGHLY deserved it; theirs is better than many professionally designed websites!).
I discovered boxception almost immediately when using the site. (And then kept abusing it.)
- I donāt see the value of the lightbox for page navigation. Even on my 1920x1200 monitor, it feels too small. Some pages donāt use it either, so itās inconsistent.
- The text on most pages is an unreadable color: http://westisliprobotics.com/index.php/docs/
- No FIRST logo
- Link to US FIRST site should open a new tab/window
- The Twitter feed isnāt a good welcome to the site, especially since itās out of date.
- If I didnāt know who you were, what FIRST was, or what your team does, I would have no idea. There are no explanations about anything.
- The team calendar is possibly the most complex calendar Iāve ever seen. Itās option overload. There are so many different choices to use to navigate, itās almost overwhelming.
- Thereās quite a gap on your blog page, so you shouldnāt really say [Updated Daily]
Ok im using google chrome and it didnt end up in a square box like the others but , the content dose get lost in the background expecially in the members page and when I used it with firefox it crashed and I could get on it after restarting my pc than it loaded really slow, it also loads really slow on safari. and on safari the content is all messed up (kinda jumbled) with internet explore it is actully perfect except for getting lost in the background.
