What is Tech Fest?
Tech Fest is a celebration of science, technology, and how things work. Our goal is to bring together companies, colleges, local businesses, students, and community members to:
- foster an awareness and appreciation for science and how it helps us in our daily lives
- help support science and technology in education via STEM initiatives
- inspire our youth toward careers in science and technology
We are inviting all technology oriented companies, colleges, school groups, as well as other FIRST teams to share with the community some aspect of how a product or technology works. FIRST teams are encouraged to work with their sponsors to show off some of their products, and/or bring their robots and demonstrate how they work. We are currently working on obtaining a full field to run exhibition Breakaway matches. At this point, we are not planning on running a full-fledged offseason event, but it may grow into that at some point in the future.
Tech Fest is not a fundraising event beyond defraying the costs to produce it. It’s free and open to all ages of spectators, and free for all exhibitors and participants.
Why Support Tech Fest?
Tech Fest is an event designed to show the public how technology helps us live better lives. It is an opportunity to network with clients, colleagues, students, parents, teachers, and potential future employees. It’s a great chance for community outreach to show support for science, technology, engineering, and math education, and to interact directly with the public in showcasing how your products work. And of course, Tech Fest is for having fun.
How To Get Involved
As an Exhibitor:
We’re looking for exhibitors to show off how some aspect of technology works. If your team’s sponsors or local businesses work with any technology related products, come and demonstrate how they work. Show off with displays, videos, cut-away or computer models, hands on/interactive items, or anything else to help explain the product’s design, assembly, or use. Bring friends and colleagues to help mind your booth, so you have an opportunity to check out the other exhibits and events. Power will be available, as well as indoor and outdoor space. Power and space are limited though, so please contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible to discuss what you would like to demonstrate, what you might need, and we will try our best to accommodate you.
As a Spectator:
Just show up and have fun! Bring your family and friends, but we ask that pets be left home. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
As a Sponsor:
Tech Fest is free for all spectators, participants, and exhibitors. However, there will be overhead costs associated with producing Tech Fest. Donations will be very much appreciated and would go a long way in helping to defray the costs. Sponsoring companies’ names and logos will be showcased at the event, and in our literature. Contact us at [email protected] if interested in making a contribution or for potential advertising opportunities.
