Team Needs Help Re-configuring Radio/Rio ASAP

Hey CD,

We have an outreach event tomorrow, and we have been trying to re-configure our electronics to allow us to drive the bot without an Ethernet cord. We have this problem EVERY YEAR, but we keep having issues with getting our bot running after competitions. Can anyone help us with this issue?

Thanks

It’s sounding like your radio is still set to the competition encryption key. You know, the one you take your radio to the kiosk to set, every competition. Happens every year after competitions, you say? That’s a sure sign…

I believe the configuration tool has a way to remove it, but I’m not entirely sure on the details.

Can you explain your problem in more detail? Alternatively if your issue is more urgent, you can enlist the help of FIRST Help Now - http://firsthelpnow.org

Follow the reprograming steps here: https://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/4485/m/13503/l/144986-programming-your-radio-for-home-use

We re-imaged the Rio, and are just trying to get the wireless to work.

Follow the steps Austin posted.

This isn’t a “re-image the RIO” problem, it’s a “remove the WPA key from the radio” problem. If you haven’t done that, you need to do it.

You could also have a second radio that doesn’t go to competitions and swap that onto the robot when you get home, but that’s just a “if you can’t get this configuration tool working” method.

If you want real help you should probably provide more information about what exactly isn’t working. Have you “flashed” your radio since competition? Is your driver station able to see the network your robot creates? What is the state of the lights on the radio itself after it boots up?

Honestly, I am not 100% sure of the progress on the re-configuration process. I just am the guy trying to get it done :stuck_out_tongue: We haven’t touched it since competition, so we’re just going to remove the encryption key like what was mentioned above.

If you haven’t touched the radio since competition, then that is definitely your problem (or at least a problem, there could be more). 95% sure that if you follow the instruction above you’ll be good to go. If not, you’ll need to give us an update after you follow the instructions with more details about what is and isn’t working.

Every time you go to competition you are setting the radio to competition mode so that no body else but your team’s computer can access your robot. When you are done with competition you need to use the Radio Re-configuring Tool (unless you want to tether to it every time). You have to tether your radio to the computer and enter your team number and then press configure on the Radio Re-configuring Tool. Then you wait until it has completed.

Matt- we’ll be in Mars this afternoon with you. If you haven’t gotten the radio straightened out by then, my Coding team can give you a hand! See you later today!
